Elevating Work Platform & Crane Borer 10 Year Re-certifications, Servicing & Repairs

Do you own a Crane Borer or Elevating Work Platform??

Is it approaching 10 Years since the date of Manufacture??

If the answer to both these questions is “Yes” then it is likely your Crane Borer or EWP will require its 10 Year Major Inspection and Re-certification.

What is a 10 year inspection?

Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs) and Crane Borers must have a major inspection carried out in accordance with Australian Standards once they reach 10 years of age from the date of manufacture. This involves dismantling, inspecting and testing the critical safety components of the machine. This ensures that no cracks have developed that could threaten the integrity of the machine and the EWP remains safe to operate.

What's included in a major inspection?

The machine is tested and inspected to a strict checklist as set out in Australian Standards AS1418 and AS2550 that will cover all components and functions identified by a trained technician as being critical to the safety of the machine. This will include:

  • Stripping down of the EWP or Crane Borer
  • Non-destructive structural testing of welds and steel work
  • Worn components repaired or replaced as required
  • Periodic electrical testing if due at time of re-certification
  • Manufacturers Safety Upgrades carried out
  • Weight Testing
